Do I need a responsive website?
Yes, Google prefers responsive website designs because the Google bots have far less pages to index, which means it is easier for the search engines to crawl your site. If built properly, responsive websites automatically adjust to whatever device the user is using. Responsive designs benefit from making changes only in one place instead of two if you have a separate mobile website.
